Temptation
Temptation. What is it?
Well a lot can be said about temptation, to begin; Temptation is a natural human neurological, compulsive, subconscious reaction that occurs in a multitude of circumstances, it has been loathed and despised by humans for it's cold, forceful nature and happens to practically everyone.
Temptation is a significant contributor to global obesity rates, rape occurrences, theft and financial instabilities throughout the global demographic. It's what derails diets and fitness plans, shortens lifespans, and is what often causes us to binge in a certain way leading to onset health repercussions.
I will now explain basic temptation with an analogical medium being the most common temptation, food:
Imagine you are presented with a bowl of chocolate/confectionery delicacies, you are conscious that you should revoke such calorific delights, but feel somewhat subconsciously attracted to their allure of fine flavour, you've consumed them in the past, they taste good, what's to lose? What's happening here is that the human brain is indicating that something you like is present and that you are instinctively inclined to claim that entity for your own well being, to satisfy that temptation.
So why do we so primitively feel obliged to succumb to these treats? Well, if food tastes good it releases endorphins of happiness and ecstasy in the brain, basically the sensation you acquire following a hug, kiss or achieving something meaningful. The brain finds these feelings to be valuable to mental equity, we naturally are attracted to good feelings, why else would the drug industry be a multi-billion pound circulation? Or the fashion industry be so popular with appearance fanatics? It's purely because we feel psychologically satisfied when our senses are stimulated, being sexually appreciated by a gender is appealing to men & women, hence why many individuals' opt for fashion and make up. The same applies to another human sense with edibles, our sense of taste. So why are foods like sweets and chocolate so good? Well quite simply this is because they stimulate areas of taste in abnormal highs due to their processed aspects, e.g. sweets stimulate the sweet receptor on our tongue much more than the basic foods like potatoes or sweetcorn, this the human brain deems sweets to be more tasteful in its stimuli than the more basic foods. Thus neurologically we prioritize what we would prefer to consume.
Stopping it is of great difficulty to the untrained knowledge, knowing how to deal with it is a great benefit.
